Jay Goth is a business and marketing veteran, with experience in a variety of industries including hospitality, energy, real estate, insurance and technology. As the founder and principal of Redtail Capital, he is currently a business consultant, working with renewable energy, clean technology, and manufacturing and technology companies.
Jay has most recently been active in the Internet marketing space. He formed Ascendant Communications Group in 2003 and that company has been profitable from the first year. Ascendant Communications Group includes The Newsletter Place, Leadkeeper, Practical Choice PR and Franchise Builder, all marketing and communication related business units. He has ghost written over 380 articles on public relations for a prestigious New York PR firm. He has also written and produced newsletters for the automotive, high technology, renewable energy, travel, real estate, executive search, and other industries. He also assists public companies with investor relations and corporate communication issues.
As a founder of several business start-ups, he is well versed in all aspects of funding and building organizations from the ground up. He has written several business plans, has created budgets and funding proposals, and has negotiated term sheets with angel investors, strategic partners, institutional investors, and venture capital firms.
Jay has been retained to serve as President, Chief Operating Officer, VP Marketing and VP Sales for companies in the finance, energy, manufacturing and technology industries. In addition, he has been retained as a consultant to several companies in the electronic transaction processing and stored value card industry.
As a founding executive of Commonwealth Energy in 1997, Jay helped to define and write the initial business plan, raise over $60M in private capital, build a customer base of almost 100,000 prior to revenue generation, and successfully launch into a newly created business environment. Once established, he drove the company to expand into additional markets. The company became one of the largest unregulated retail electricity providers in the country, with third year revenues approaching $100M. In 2004 the company registered its shares with the SEC and went directly to the AMEX.
A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mr. Goth received a B.A. with a double major in English literature and Economics. He has held several licenses, including securities Series 6, 63, 3, Real Estate, and Insurance (Life and Health.) His main pursuits, besides building successful businesses, are downhill skiing and fly fishing and he enthusiastically supports his wife's passion for riding performance thoroughbred horses and show jumping. He has also been known to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.
