Jim Shnell is a transactional attorney in Jackson, DeMarco, Tidus & Peckenpaughıs corporate and business
practice group. He has extensive experience with emerging companies, including the formation and
organization of such entities, and the protection and licensing of their intellectual property. He has counseled
both emerging and established companies with respect to corporate governance issues. Jim has also represented
emerging companies in obtaining equity, debt and mezzanine financing, and at other times he has represented
the investors or lenders in such transactions. He has broad experience in mergers and acquisitions, having
represented acquiring entities as well as selling entities in a variety of contexts, and has represented clients with
respect to contractual and other general business matters. Jim earned his Bachelorıs degree at Stanford
University, an M.B.A. at Harvard University, and his law degree at the University of California, Boalt Hall
School of Law. He is active with the Tech Coast Venture Network and the Harvard Business School
Association of Orange County.
